The Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering (AIEN) prepares globally competitive professionals who will drive innovation and technological advancement in AI and data engineering in Qatar, the region and beyond.

The program offers an engineering-focused education that distinguishes it from traditional AI degrees focused primarily on software. Through an emphasis on AI hardware–software co-design, students learn to build scalable, energy-efficient systems for real-world deployment across edge devices, GPUs, and AI accelerators.

The interdisciplinary curriculum integrates AI theory, AI hardware design, data engineering and analytics with strong foundations in computer science, mathematics, engineering and ethics. Graduates gain expertise in AI algorithms, data pipelines, and the infrastructure required to deploy AI systems at scale.

Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities, including high-performance computing clusters, AI labs and hardware design labs equipped with FPGA boards and AI accelerators. Aligned with Qatar’s National AI Strategy and National Vision 2030, the program prepares the next generation of leaders for a knowledge-based economy.

Technical electives enable students to deepen their expertise in one of two technical areas:

  • Robotics and Automation: including robotics, autonomous systems, reinforcement learning.
  • AI-based Systems: including computer vision, generative AI, biomedical applications, and cybersecurity.

Grade assessment is based on final and mid-term examinations, quizzes, assignments, projects, and laboratory work. The program culminates in a two-semester senior design project, completed in teams under faculty supervision, in which students integrate their knowledge to solve real-world AI and data engineering challenges.

Students complete a mandatory professional experience requirement by choosing one of three pathways:

  • Professional Pathway: internships and co-op placements with leading organizations and industry partners.
  • Innovation and Research Pathway: faculty-led research projects in emerging areas of artificial intelligence and data engineering.
  • Entrepreneurship Pathway: support for developing AI-driven startups and ventures.

Applicants seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering should have a strong high school academic record with evidence of advanced coursework in mathematics and science. Applicants are required to take the IELTS or TOEFL exam to demonstrate English proficiency, and are highly encouraged to take the SAT or ACT exam.
