The Master in Global Health Policy (MGHP) is a full-time, two-year degree program, delivered in-person by the College of Public Policy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The program features a distinctive combination of interdisciplinarity, strong ethical foundations, innovation in global health and evidence-based approaches governance to health policy and systems design.

The MGHP provides training to graduate students from a range of disciplines in the skills needed to understand and address contemporary global health challenges in Qatar, the Global South and beyond. The program offers world-class academic and professional training in global health policy analysis, health systems, health economics and financing, crisis and emergency health policy, data and AI applications in health policy, and global health advocacy, diplomacy and leadership.

 

Mission

The mission of the Master in Global Health Policy is to educate, inspire and empower the next generation of ethically grounded global health leaders in Qatar, the Global South and beyond.

We strive to advance critical knowledge, analytical capacity and interdisciplinary skills to address complex global health challenges, strengthen resilient and equitable health systems, and improve population well-being through evidence-informed policy and practice. Through a rigorous and future-oriented curriculum, students are equipped to analyze, design, implement, and evaluate innovative health policies across diverse local, regional and international contexts.

The program fosters an inclusive and globally engaged learning environment that promotes excellence, integrity, compassion, equity, and social responsibility. We integrate perspectives from public policy, public health, economics, data and artificial intelligence, ethics and development studies to prepare graduates to lead in times of uncertainty, crisis and transformation.

The program enhances meaningful contributions to society through public service, global collaboration, and impactful research and practice. Our graduates aspire to communicate effectively, influence policy and drive sustainable and people-centered health outcomes at both the local and global levels.

The MGHP builds on core foundations in global health policy, health systems, health economics and financing, ethics, data and AI, and research methodology. It integrates analysis, applied research, and practical policy engagement from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Distinctive features include a strong focus on ethical and equitable health policymaking, crisis and emergency health policy, and real-world experience with health sector partners and international organizations. The program’s ambition is to create global health policy leaders who can think critically, act ethically and design solutions for resilient and inclusive health systems.

Upon completion of the Master in Global Health Policy, graduates will be equipped to:

  • Analyze global health policy challenges using relevant theories, frameworks and interdisciplinary evidence to make informed judgments in complex and dynamic policy environments.
  • Apply appropriate policy and research tools to develop, assess and communicate feasible responses to contemporary global health challenges, taking into account context, equity, implementation constraints and competing stakeholder interests.
  • Participate in and contribute to the global health policy process by engaging institutions, stakeholders and decision makers in the formulation, implementation, evaluation and improvement of policy.

Applicants seeking admissions to the Master of Global Health Policy should have a bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA out of 4.0) from a recognized university. Applicants from diverse academic backgrounds are welcome to apply, with preference given to those with experience in healthcare, public health, or policy-related fields.

Applicants are required to submit an IELTS score of 6.5 or a TOEFL score of 79 to demonstrate their proficiency in English.
