The Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) is a leading research institute affiliated with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). The institute addresses the Qatar National Health priorities outlined in the Qatar National Research Strategy through its dedicated research centers: the Translational Oncology Research Center, the Diabetes Research Center (DRC), and the Neurological Disorders Research Center (NDRC).
- Coordinate all grants-related matters with the QBRI operation office, HBKU SRO office, and funding agencies ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
- Facilitate the process of account set-up for internal grants in collaboration with QBRI Research Financial Manager.
- Ensure that project expenses are charged correctly to the correct account by coordinating with QBRI finance and operation team.
- Suggest appropriate methods for budget administration, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, and monitoring receivables for projects.
- Ensure proper closure process for completed projects by verifying deliverables & closing accounts.
- Establish effective communication channels with all project teams & stakeholders.
- Preparation of a variety of reports covering grants budget status and forecast.
- Ensure that all grants and related contracts are well administered and implemented in accordance with the relevant funding agency, QBRI, and HBKU regulations, procedures, and requirements.
- Handle the grant submission process, from application materials and budget assistance to final review, institutional endorsement, and submission of proposals to funding agencies.
- Analyze and review grant requests for completeness, viability, appropriateness, and effectiveness.
- Strive to streamline and maintain a single, accurate database of institutional grants and contracts.
- Identify and disseminate details of grant opportunities and funding schemes and serve as an institutional resource on attractive funding opportunities, national and international.
- Contribute to grant audit review activities and ensure timely closure of audit recommendations.
- Review and process research agreements and contracts to ensure alignment with QBRI and HBKU policies and Qatar regulations.
- Provide timely, accurate reporting to QBRI ED on grants performance and related activities and identify and recommend new ways for improvements.
- Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
HBKU’s Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) is inviting applications for the position of Research Grants Specialist for the Research Office, to facilitate QBRI internal grants activities, support the running of QBRI’s research office activities, and coordinate with HBKU SRO office for external funding matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or health-related management.
- 2- 5 years of full-time work experience.
- Strong background in science and knowledge of research practices, research grants management, and biomedical operations.
- Sufficient knowledge and thorough working experience in budgeting and Finance including reporting and presentations.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
