Admissions Specialist

The Provost Office in HBKU is mainly responsible for planning and implementing academic priorities across the university including curricular, student enrollment, admissions, and faculty. The Office also works closely with the academic colleges and the faculty to provide the highest possible quality educational programs, both within and outside the classroom. It fosters the success of faculty across the university to ensure retention of our outstanding and diverse faculty body and support excellence in their missions of teaching, scholarship, and service.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University's Provost office is inviting applications for the Admissions Specialist. The selected candidate will be responsible to manage all operational aspects of admissions from initial inquiry to registration.

  • Establish and execute data driven and contextualized strategic recruitment plans in collaboration with Deans & Faculty to meet the enrollment goals for each academic program
  • Develop, plan, and implement an inquiry tracking process, admissions management process and use technology to enhance all admissions related business processes
  • Respond to inquiries related to technical aspects of the admissions' applications. Gather data on users' feedback to enhance applications to be more user-friendly
  • Enhance online admission applications for all academic programs in collaboration with Deans and Faculty
  • Manage all admission aspects of the student information system (Banner) and ARGOS reporting tool
  • Assist in the reviewing and evaluating admissions applications for academic programs at HBKU
  • Participate as a non-voting resource in admissions committee sessions with Deans, Faculty and Colleges, including but not limited to: interviews, discussion of applicants and identification of high achieving students for scholarship
  • Develop in collaboration with deans and admissions committees and implement specific evaluation rubrics to provide input and feedback on the applicants' admissibility to the program based on the information provided in their application
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of admission process by evaluating existing policies and procedures and making relevant recommendations
  • Create data driven reports about prospects, applicants and admitted students within depth analysis and recommendations
  • Administer standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT and TOEFL when required
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • 2-5 years of relevant full-time work experience, preferably at an accredited selective enrolment university
  • Working knowledge of Student Information Systems. Experience with Banner strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in data analysis and developing data-driven reports. Knowledge of statistical programs (e.g., SPSS, SAS, etc.) an advantage
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Ability to support applicants quickly and accurately throughout the admissions process
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Capacity to multi-task and prioritize effectively based on the admissions cycle and application volume
