The event will be delivered in English.
To promote an efficient and sustainable adoption, diffusion, and assimilation of water, energy and food (WEF) technologies and innovation in Qatar, there is a need for supporting legal, governance and institutional frameworks that situate WEF technologies within Qatar’s local context. There is also an urgent need to assess the complex and non-linear barriers to the absorption of WEF technologies in Qatar and how to develop integrated solutions that allow for coherent WEF nexus knowledge production and absorption.
This two-day workshop aims to strengthen dialogue, knowledge exchange, and institutional collaboration between WEF Nexus researchers in Qatar and the University of Birmingham, UK. It provides a platform for sharing and exchanging information on how to ensure that WEF technologies are properly absorbed and adapted to local circumstances in Qatar.
Questions to be raised and discussed include:
- What are the existing legal challenges and barriers faced in demonstrating, leveraging, and absorbing WEF technologies, such as solar, water desalination, and cooling technologies, in Qatar?
- What are innovative legal tools, governance best practices, research, resources and models that can enhance legal and institutional capacity on WEF innovation?
- What are the opportunities for multi-institutional, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research agenda between the UK and Qatar WEF scholars and researchers?
