IHME Projections for Qatar: Strategies to Reduce the Spread of COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, countries have put in place different measures to contain the spread of the virus. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME),  in collaboration with its scientific network, has produced projections for each country to guide their responses. These projections provide estimates for resources needed such as hospital beds, ICU beds, and ventilators, as well as scenarios for strategies that could be used by policymakers. This webinar will briefly highlight the IHME model, its projections for Qatar, and discuss the strategies to reduce the spread.

Speaker:

Dr. Ali H. Mokdad, Professor, IHME, and Chief Strategy Officer for Population Health, University of Washington

Prior to IHME, Dr. Mokdad worked at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has published groundbreaking research on local-level disease trends and leading risk factors for poor health. His work on obesity is among the most highly cited in the field.
