Process

  • For workouts in the HBKU gym, an HBKU fitness instructor will guide all participants in developing strength and cardiovascular endurance.
  • There will be two group workouts per week.
  • The HBKU fitness instructor may add activities per visit (i.e. a series of machine exercises, including programs using other gym equipment such as dumbbells and kettlebells, etc.).
  • The final results of the competition are based on the percentage of body weight lost.
  • In the event of a tie, pounds and inches lost, effort, and number of workout sessions and weigh-ins completed will all be considered.

Disqualifications

HBKU fitness staff and HBKU Sports and Recreation staff members have the right to disqualify participants who do not follow the rules of the Biggest Loser competition.

Excessive Exercise

Exercise is important, however, excessive exercise will not be permitted. If our staff feels that participants are overexerting themselves to the point of physical or mental harm, they may be disqualified from the competition.

General Guidelines

Water Consumption

Participants must drink plenty of water and fluids throughout the competition.

Food Consumption

Not eating will not be allowed. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy food throughout the day.

Sauna

Using the sauna for weight loss purposes is not effective and is not allowed. It only leads to the loss of water weight. Use of the sauna more/less than two hours before a weigh-in will not be allowed.
