The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) and the Global Institute for Strategic Research (GISR) are organizing a focused workshop with the authors of Transformed by the People: Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s Road to Power in Syria (Hurst, 2025). This book examines the transformation of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) from an insurgent movement to a governing authority in northwest Syria.

The workshop aims to convert the academic insights gained from writing this book into practical tools for policymakers and researchers. It will explore how theoretical frameworks can be applied to governance and civic engagement, and will convert field-based insights into effective policy approaches.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and greet the authors and have their books signed.

The workshop will be held in English.
