Dr. Fatima Ghassan Alabtah is a Scientist in the Materials Unit at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Her research integrates advanced and additive manufacturing, materials science, and sustainability to develop durable, high-performance materials for Qatar's energy, water, and built-environment sectors. At QEERI, she leads work packages across institute research programs on materials qualification for harsh environments, thermoelectric materials for climate-resilient cooling, and waste-derived materials. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at HBKU and an Assistant Research Scientist at Texas A&M University at Qatar, where she contributed to establishing the Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing Laboratory. She has published in leading journals, including CIRP Annals, Materials & Design, and npj Materials Degradation, holds a U.S. provisional patent, and has delivered invited keynote talks internationally. Dr. Alabtah holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Qatar University, where she received the Outstanding Dissertation Award, and is a licensed mechanical engineer in Qatar.
