Dr. Edward L. Stuenkel is the Executive Director of the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He previously served as the founding Dean of the College of Health and Life Sciences at HBKU and is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology at the University of Michigan. Throughout his career, Dr. Stuenkel has held numerous academic leadership roles, including Director of the University of Michigan's Neuroscience Graduate Program. His research has focused on the molecular mechanisms regulating neurotransmitter and neurohormone secretion, integrating electrophysiological, optical, and molecular approaches. He has authored more than 87 peer-reviewed publications, mentored undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers, and has served on numerous national and international scientific committees. In recognition of his contributions to neuroscience and biomedical research, he was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
