People Biography

Soon-gyo Jung is a Senior Software Engineer at the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University, where he works within the Qatar Center for Artificial Intelligence. With a solid background in computer science, data science, and analytics, he specializes in designing and building data-driven and data-intensive systems using research-oriented software engineering practices.
Alongside software engineering, he brings expertise across software architecture, full-stack web development, data architecture, data engineering, AI engineering, prompt engineering, and rapid prototyping, allowing him to deliver holistic solutions to complex research and product problems. He has contributed to internationally recognized systems, including the Automatic Persona Generation (APG) platform, and has co-authored two books on data-driven personas and digital analytics, alongside peer-reviewed articles in venues such as the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, ACM PACM HCI, and ICWSM.
He holds an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from SungKyunKwan University, Korea, where his research addressed IoT and wireless sensor networks, focusing on routing and clustering with swarm intelligence techniques inspired by ant, bee, and bird-flocking behaviour.
