People Biography

Dr. Ibrar Bhatt is an Assistant Visiting Professor at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He has previously served as an Associate Professor at Queen's University Belfast. His research spans linguistics, higher education, and digital humanities. His funded projects include two Leverhulme awards (2021–23, 2025–27) on Chinese-Muslim heritage literacy, a British Academy grant (2024), and an SRHE research award (2018).

He is the author or editor of six books, including Heritage Literacy in the Lives of Chinese Muslims (2026) and The Epistemology of Deceit (2021), alongside more than 40 academic articles in leading venues. He holds Visiting Professor appointments in China, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, and serves as External Examiner at the University of Edinburgh and Saint Francis University, Hong Kong. He previously held a Governing Council role with the Society for Research into Higher Education, and currently serves as Executive Editor of Teaching in Higher Education, an Editorial Board member of Postdigital Science and Education, and founder of the Multilingual University Network.
