Biography

Dr. Ghalia Missous is a scientist with a multidisciplinary background spanning microbiology, immunology, and translational biomedical research. She obtained her PhD in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Caen Lower-Normandy, France, where her research focused on microbial systems and microbiological applications in food and environmental sciences. She subsequently completed postdoctoral research at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan, where she conducted molecular microbiology research on microbial ecology, pathogen dynamics, and mechanisms influencing host–microbe interactions. At Sidra Medicine, her research evolved toward translational immunology and spatial tissue biology, focusing on immune cell interactions and tissue microenvironment changes in obesity, type 2 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and colorectal cancer. Her current research at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University, focuses on the role of R-Ras in Wnt signaling and triple-negative breast cancer, supporting the development of novel targeted therapeutic strategies.
