People Biography

Dr. Fatima-Zahra Lahlou is a Scientist at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). Her research focuses on sustainable water resources management, water security, and integrated Energy-Water-Food nexus planning, with particular emphasis on resource sustainability and resilience in arid regions. She is involved in multidisciplinary research projects addressing national water system planning, infrastructure resilience, resource optimization, and climate adaptation.

Dr. Lahlou received her PhD in Sustainable Environment from HBKU in 2023, where her doctoral research explored the sustainable utilization of wastewater treatment byproducts in agricultural systems through an EWF nexus approach. Her research addressed integrated water and nutrient management, resource allocation optimization, and the environmental implications of alternative resource management strategies.

Her expertise encompasses systems modeling, optimization, environmental assessment, hydraulic simulation, and resilience analysis. Her current research extends to national-scale water system modeling and the development of integrated planning frameworks and decision-support tools to evaluate water security, infrastructure performance, and long-term resource management strategies under changing environmental and operational conditions.
