Dr. Taha A. Kass-Hout

Dr. Taha A. Kass-Hout is an American physician and technology executive working at the intersection of AI, medical imaging, and health system transformation. His career has focused on building trustworthy systems that move healthcare AI from isolated tools into reliable workflows that clinicians trust and health systems can scale.

Dr. Kass-Hout serves as Global Chief Science and Technology Officer at GE HealthCare, leading science and technology strategy across imaging, diagnostics, and software solutions. Under his leadership, GE HealthCare has topped the U.S. FDA’s AI-enabled medical device authorizations list for the fourth consecutive year, with more than 115 listed authorizations. His current focus includes advancing foundation model capabilities and the operating layer needed for orchestration, governance, and safe deployment in real clinical environments.

Previously, he was the inaugural Chief Medical Officer for Healthcare and Life Sciences, as well as Vice President of HealthAI, Distinguished Engineer at Amazon. In this role, he led the launches of products including Amazon Comprehend Medical, AWS HealthLake, Amazon Omics, Amazon Pharmacy capabilities, and an FDA-authorized COVID-19 diagnostic lab. Earlier in public service, he served as the FDA’s first Chief Health Informatics Officer, co-founding openFDA and precisionFDA, and led national biosurveillance modernization at the CDC. 

Dr. Kass-Hout earned his MD and MS in Biostatistics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
