HBKU’s College of Law Professor Interviews ExxonMobil General Counsel

Dr. Damilola S. Olawuyi, associate professor at the College of Law at Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), led a session at the 2019 Symposium on Global Markets at the Center for American and International Law (CAIL) in Plano, Texas, from June 17-18.

During the luncheon plenary, Dr. Olawuyi interviewed the General Counsel of ExxonMobil, Mr. Randall Ebner. The conversation focused on a range of issues, with some of relevance to Qatar, where ExxonMobil has a substantial presence. Topics addressed included challenges of managing legal matters across multiple jurisdictions and the effect of new technology on energy markets.

Also in attendance was Dr. Susan Karamanian, HBKU Law dean, who is a trustee of CAIL and co-organized the symposium.

Lawyers from more than 25 countries were present, and other featured speakers included Deborah Majoras, Chief Legal Officer of Procter & Gamble, Robert Ahdieh, dean of Texas A&M Law School, and Professor Timothy Meyer, Vanderbilt University School of Law.
