The Provost Office in HBKU is mainly responsible for planning and implementing academic priorities across the university including curricular, student enrollment, admissions, and faculty. The Office also works closely with the academic colleges and the faculty to provide the highest possible quality educational programs, both within and outside the classroom. It fosters the success of faculty across the university to ensure retention of our outstanding and diverse faculty body and support excellence in their missions of teaching, scholarship and service.
HBKU seeks applications for the position of Director of Academic Planning and Assessment. The applicant will be responsible for providing leadership for institution-wide academic planning, academic program reviews and assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position ensures that academic programs align with the university’s strategic goals, meet accreditation standards, and use evidence-based practices to enhance student learning and institutional effectiveness.
- Leading and coordinating university-wide academic planning processes.
- Supporting the development, review, modification, and termination of academic programs.
- Leading the new academic programs submission, review, and approval process.
- Guiding academic units in developing measurable learning outcomes, curriculum maps, assessment methods, rubrics, and improvement plans.
- Ensuring assessment results are systematically analyzed and used to improve curricula, pedagogy, and student success ("closing the loop").
- Managing the process for academic program reviews, accreditation, and institutional ranking.
- Analyzing and reporting on academic performance indicators, including learning outcomes, retention, progression, completion, and post-graduation outcomes.
- Collaborating with Institutional Research and other offices to ensure data integrity and alignment.
- Developing and establishing goals, policies, and procedures for the assessment processes.
- Promoting a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the institution.
- Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of assessment management systems.
- Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field; a PhD degree is preferred.
- 8 years of relevant academic full-time experience in academic assessment, planning, or institutional effectiveness at higher education institutions.
- Previous experience in developing Academic Programs and accreditation reports.
- Excellent ability to coordinate and work with colleges and other units under academic affairs.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to comply with firm deadlines; ability to lead and keep others on task.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications, and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
