The lecture will place the Sudanese revolution and the backlash against it within a broader historical context of governance in Sudan and the related geopolitics. It will address the failed transition into a civil government and the problematic nature of peace agreements, as well as their consequences.

After identifying the violations committed by both sides involved in the current armed conflict, the lecture will analyze the failure of third states, as well as regional and international institutions, to prevent these violations, noting instances of complicity. This legal analysis, combined with current Sudanese-led initiatives, will contribute to a discussion about what it means to end the war and transition to sustainable peace, civilian rule, and appropriate justice measures.

The event will be held in English.
