Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will be participating in the International Education Fair in Russia, offering prospective students the opportunity to meet international education institutions and academic experts. Consisting of one-on-one sessions, interviews, seminars, presentations and workshops, the Fair will be held in two cities: Moscow and St. Petersburg.
This seminar will discuss the regulation of human aging genes and understanding the aging process to enable the discovery of omics-based biomarkers for risk, diagnosis and prognosis of frailty in old adults.
Translation professionals and students are invited to a panel discussion about “Challenges of Translators in the Digital and Global Age”. Dr. Daniel Newman will open the discussion with a short talk on Arabic civilization and translation.

This workshop will train participants in the fundamentals of interpreting modes and techniques. The workshop program will cover information processing, note taking, and simultaneous interpreting, laying the foundation to develop the advanced skills used by professional interpreters.
Participants will take part in live interpreting exercises using a variety of audio-texts and accents in the interpreting booth in a state-of-the-art lab.

This targeted workshop will introduce participants to the techniques of intralingual and interlingual subtitling.
Attendees will be exposed to specific formal and discursive features of subtitles, including temporal and spatial constraints, timing, condensation, verbal and non-verbal cues, appropriate punctuation, positioning, and segmentation.
