Biography

Hamoudah Al-Zaini is an S.J.D. candidate at the College of Law. His dissertation examines the impact of digital products on international trade law, arguing that the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) is inadequate due to its outdated classification system. His research explores the technological neutrality of GATS, the feasibility of its application to digital products, and recent efforts by the WTO and other international bodies to modernize trade regulations for the digital economy.

Hamoudah holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from HBKU and an MBA from Qatar University, with extensive professional experience in banking and financial services. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, having worked at HSBC and currently serving at the Qatar Financial Centre Authority (QFCA), where he oversees compliance frameworks and regulatory risk management.

His research interests include international trade law, law and political economy, and law and technology. Hamoudah’s work has been published by Oxford University Press and Data Studies in Business and Economics.
