Biography

Thulfqar Alaani is an S.J.D. candidate at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. His doctoral dissertation examines the stay of proceedings mechanisms in insolvency and corporate reorganization laws across GCC countries, with a particular focus on their effectiveness in balancing debtor protection, creditor rights, and business continuity.

Thulfqar holds an LL.M. in International Business Law from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, and an LL.B. from the University of Bahrain. Prior to pursuing his doctoral studies, Thulfqar accumulated over a decade of professional experience in the legal field, working as a practicing lawyer in the Kingdom of Bahrain and as a lecturer in commercial law. Before joining Hamad Bin Khalifa University, he served as a researcher at the Bahrain Chamber, where he spearheaded an advisory service dedicated to reorganization and bankruptcy law in Bahrain.

His academic work includes published research in the Kuwait International Law School Journal (KILAW) and AlQanoniya Journal of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission of the Kingdom of Bahrain. His work combines doctrinal legal analysis with comparative perspectives, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing legal scholarship and policy development in the Gulf region.
