This seminar will focus on the impact of regulatory T cells (Tregs) on autoimmune responses in the setting of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The seminar will cover the identification of molecules that regulate Treg checkpoints, followed by the introduction of studies conducted for dissecting their regulatory mechanisms underlying Treg stability and functionality.
The seminar will also include a screening of a diet-derived drug library along with the results derived from intention-to-treat (ITT) trials in newly diagnosed T1D onset patients. The seminar will serve as a typical example of translational research, from target identification and mechanistic study to clinical application.
