The HBKU University Senate is committed to fostering shared governance, transparency, and faculty engagement. As part of this, faculty and researchers are invited to submit constructive input on matters that can help advance the university's mission.

This is an opportunity to raise strategic issues, propose initiatives, or highlight challenges in key areas such as:

Academic Affairs

Including academic policies and procedures, academic programs, academic planning and academic initiatives, teaching and learning, curricula, standards of admission, academic standards and accreditation, quality assurance, academic and teaching-related resources and infrastructure, the university’s library, financial aid and scholarships, and graduation requirements.

Research Affairs

Including research-related policies and procedures, research services, research programs and initiatives, global and regional positioning of research initiatives, research performance, research ethics and standards, research and funding opportunities, sponsored research, research facilities and infrastructure, technology transfer, intellectual property and commercialization, and research directions and priorities.

Faculty and Researcher Affairs

Including hiring, development, promotion, retention, and welfare. This includes any matter of faculty and researchers, such as faculty and researchers related policies and procedures, professional development, working environment, faculty and researchers’ support and recognition, and promotion of teaching, research, and service excellence.

Student Affairs

Including student-related policies and procedures, issues facing students, admission and registration, and non-academic matters of student life and welfare, student experience, student-related programs, student-support services, and extracurricular activities.

How to Contribute

  • “Faculty Input” should be concise and clearly outlined, identifying its impact and any potential recommendations.
  • “Faculty Input” should be related to institutional improvement and not to personal grievances.
  • “Faculty Input” should follow the form (Restricted to HBKU faculty and researchers).

 

Confidentiality and Review Process

The Executive Committee of the Senate (ECS) will review all submissions to ensure relevance to the Senate’s mandate. Approved submissions will be discussed during the upcoming senate meeting, and outcomes will be communicated accordingly.

If you prefer to remain anonymous, please indicate this in your submission, and your input will be handled with full confidentiality. In that case, your identity will be known only to the Senate Chair and the Senate Secretary.
