Award Eligibility and Criteria
The main criterion is a record of exceptional performance in research or creative work. Candidates should demonstrate that they are pre-eminent in their field and have made at least one transformational contribution to their discipline. Candidates should also demonstrate that they have received national and international distinctions and honors at the highest level.
An excellent record of research, teaching, and service alone is not sufficient to qualify a candidate for the title. Normally, up to two awards are made annually. The Provost may seek the President's approval for additional awards, based on a strong justification from the committee. Given the limited number of awards available each year, an unsuccessful application should not be interpreted as a reflection of a candidate's portfolio.
