Belmont Forum Research Project Awardees 

The Office of the Vice President for Research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) announced that Dr. Chefi Triki, (Lead Principal investigator), Dr. Adel Elomri (Principal Investigator) - from the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) - and Dr. Annamaria Mazzoni (Principal Investigator) from the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), have been awarded a research grant from the Belmont Forum for their proposal titled "Integrated Assessment of Climate Impacts on Ecosystem Functions and Productivity of Critical-Zone Eco-Hydrology (INTERACTION).”

The Belmont Forum is a partnership of funding organizations, international science councils, and regional consortia committed to the advancement of transdisciplinary science. This specific call, “Towards Sustainability of Soils and Groundwater for Society” is co-funded by 10 international funding agencies including the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).

With HBKU being the only entity in Qatar to receive this award, the project - supported by QNRF - includes members from Kahramaa and the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar and marks a major international collaboration between the Consortium Lead Purdue University, HBKU, and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR).
