The translation of legal texts between English and Arabic is a complex task that poses unique challenges. This panel discussion, co-hosted by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Law, will feature two distinguished speakers, a legal scholar with vast experience in the field of law and an esteemed professor and award-winning translator. They will delve into the intricacies encountered during the translation process, specifically regarding the renowned international law publication "Brownlie’s Principles of Public International Law" authored by James R. Crawford (Oxford University Press, 8th ed. 2012), whose translation secured the second position in the Single Book category of the prestigious Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding in the year 2023.
