Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) drives biomedical innovation by translating scientific discoveries into real-world healthcare solutions. Our scientists collaborate across disciplines to develop technologies that address both national and global health priorities.
Through close coordination with Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s Office of Innovation and Industrial Relations (OIIR), QBRI supports advancing promising research toward commercialization. This includes early-stage innovation development, patent protection, industry partnerships, and startup incubation.
To date, QBRI has filed multiple patents and submitted numerous invention disclosures across key research areas, including neurological, metabolic, and oncological diseases. Our innovations span novel biomarkers, diagnostic assays, and therapeutic targets, designed to improve early detection, disease monitoring, and treatment outcomes.
Startups
As part of Qatar Biomedical Research Institute’s commitment to translating research into impactful solutions, it has supported the establishment of startups, including:
I Track LLC
I Track LLC is an institute-incubated startup registered under the Qatar Financial Centre. It focuses on the development and commercialization of AI-driven digital diagnostic solutions for neurodevelopmental disorders, with a primary focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Leveraging advanced eye-tracking technology and proprietary machine learning algorithms, I Track aims to enable objective, rapid, and scalable assessment and early detection. The platform is designed to support clinical decision-making, accelerate time-to-diagnosis, and expand access to high-quality diagnostic support globally.
QABY Biotech LLC
QABY Biotech is an institute-incubated startup registered under the Qatar Financial Centre. The name ‘QABY’ is a registered trademark of Qatar Foundation. It focuses on developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular emphasis on Parkinson’s disease and related diseases. Leveraging proprietary technologies, QABY aims to advance biomarker discovery, enable early and accurate diagnosis, and develop novel therapeutic approaches.
SAND
SAND (Smart Approaches to New Discoveries) is an institute-incubated biotechnology company advancing New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to deliver improvements in vitro modeling solutions. Its first product is an engineered, plug-and-play surface that supports brain organoid growth for more than 90 days and enables greater maturation than current commercial methods. The technology aims to help researchers deepen their understanding of brain development while supporting applications in disease modeling and drug testing.
