Guidelines for Applying to a Student Staff Position

HBKU provides students from HBKU and Education City’s partner universities with an opportunity to apply for student-staff jobs in sports and recreation. 


Process for Applying for a Student-Staff Position

  • Applicants should log in to www.tech4work.com
  • Users will create an account with their university email address
  • Other information will be available upon logging-in
  • Applications will be reviewed by the relevant department
  • Interviews will be arranged with shortlisted candidates

Students will be assigned to work in one of the following areas: (1) Fitness and gym desk, (2) Sports court desk, and (3) Sports and recreation desk.

Tasks for students assigned to the fitness and gym desk:       

  • Monitor attendance and conduct surveys
  • Check and monitor the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility
  • Secure the facility before and after use
  • Report to the facility assistant or coordinator for attendance, and sign in and out using the fingerprint machine

 

Tasks for students assigned to the sports court desk:

  • Check the facility
  • Prepare the playing court 30 minutes ahead of booking time
  • Monitor court users and bookings
  • Conduct surveys
  • Secure the facility before and after the use of the QF members and their guests
  • Issue reports and submit to the office for immediate action (if required)
  • Report to the facility assistant or coordinator for attendance, and sign in and out using the fingerprint machine

 

Tasks for students assigned to the sports and recreation desk:

  • Attending to the daily operational tasks and implementing relevant policies
  • Attending to the phone and answering personal queries
  • Checking email and the EMS system for booking information
  • Keeping the sports and recreation desk organized (i.e. keeping the equipment and bowling shoes in proper order)
  • Maintenance check for all arcade machines
  • Arranging the bowling balls
  • Maintaining logs (i.e. the bowling users log, manual cash log and equipment log)
  • Operating the bowling system (i.e. giving out shoes and socks as necessary, spraying the shoes after use and providing bowling ramp and rails for children)
  • Handling the cash register, including bowling user income, socks and coin hopper (token)

 

When hired for a position, student employees become members of work units that depend on them. Student employees should make a serious commitment to their position. Student employees:

  • Should have a GPA of 2.0 and above
  • Should be full-time students at HBKU or an Education City partner university
  • Should not occupy more than two positions in Education City
  • Should submit all hours worked before the end of each month
  • Should report that missed payments within two months of the missing payment
  • Should not work more than 80 hours per month during the semester year
  • Should not work more than 20 hours per week during the semester year
  • Overtime hours are not considered
  • Should notify the supervisor two weeks in advance if they want to resign from their position
  • Should follow HBKU’s rules and regulations
  • Student who withdraw from their studies at the respective campus are no longer eligible for student employment
  • Students are expected to be ethical and to demonstrate integrity as employees
