The Associate Dean will support the Dean of College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHSS) in implementing the College’s academic and research vision, including the Translation and Interpreting Institute, and will oversee the research and academic programs of the College.
Key Result Areas:
- Lead and deliver innovative, interdisciplinary programs in accordance to the College plan and the Dean’s vision;
- Champion excellence in education by seeking international recognitions through program accreditation and validation;
- Lead and motivate the team of academic staff, and promote professional development and research excellence.
- Oversee the Translation and Interpreting Studies Department in TII.
- Oversee accreditation and validation processes.
- Monitor curriculum development efforts, including any modifications or changes to the academic programs;
- Manage proposals for new MA degrees, as well as the Research mission of CHSS.
- Chair faculty hiring committee, and other academic committees within the College such as Faculty Evaluation;
- Develop strategies and business plans, in consultation with Dean, for allocation of budget and resources.
- Oversee the CHSS Library.
- Support the Dean in promoting and representing the College locally and internationally, and connecting with strategic stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- PhD Degree required.
- Distinguished record of academic scholarship and research.
- Qualifications commensurate with appointment as Associate or Full Professor within Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Held the position of Department Chair/head or equivalent academic administrative positions for at least three years.
- Experience in accreditation, curricular development, faculty evaluation, and strategic planning
- Strong team leadership and communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities;
- Innovative and creative ideas for success in a changing landscape of research funding;
- Experience evaluating research proposals;
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills;
- An ability to develop and implement strategies to address long-term opportunities
