Sponsored Research Office

The Sponsored Research Office (SRO) was launched in December 2016 under the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Vice President for Research Office. The SRO contributes to HBKU’s academic and research mission through the provision of pre-award and post-award management for all sponsored research projects.

HBKU RECEIVES TWO NPRP CLUSTER GRANTS

Hamad Bin Khalifa University Sponsored Research Office was recently awarded two grants under the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) National Priorities Research Program (NPRP)-Clusters and one sub-award.

‘SDG Education and Global Citizenship in Qatar: Enhancing Qatar’s Nested Power in the Global Arena’, submitted by Dr. Evren Tok, associate professor at the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) and adjunct professor at the College of Public Policy (CPP), was awarded under the second cycle of the NPRP-Cluster Track.

Dr. Leslie Pal, Dean of CPP, and Omneya Abdelsalam, associate dean and professor of Islamic Finance at CIS, are also involved in this project.

‘Development of a Highly Efficient and Practical Carbon Management System for Improving Qatar’s Sustainability: A Holistic Approach’, submitted by Dr. Abdukrem Amhamed of Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), was also awarded by QNRF. Dr. Fadwa El-Mellouhi, Senior Scientist at QEERI, is in the project team.

HBKU was a sub-awardee with a project titled ‘Multi-layer Cybersecurity and Situational Awareness to Enhance Resiliency in Qatar’s Power Grid’. Dr. Sertac Bayhan, Senior Scientist at QEERI, and Dr. Mohamed Abdallah, Associate Professor at the College of Science and Engineering (CSE), are involved in the project.

The main objective of the NPRP-Cluster is to address pressing and strategic challenges for Qatar and produce tangible societal and economic impact.
