Motivation

Children with autism face difficulties in social communication and inclusion during play. Play is fundamental for a child’s development.

Research

Design, develop, and evaluate a multisensory tangible interface to promote collaborative social play. Through employing human-centered and participatory co-design methods to integrate multiple sensory modalities (touch, sound, smell, etc.).

Impact

  • Support inclusion, collaboration, and sensory engagement in learning environments.
  • Advances in research in co-design and engagement understanding for vulnerable populations (such as autism).
