Frequently Asked Questions
We offer courses in Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Turkish, Russian and Portuguese courses.
Courses are offered at the beginner (no prior knowledge) to advanced levels. We also have courses on special topics and in a variety of formats.
Students beyond the beginner level are asked to take a placement test to determine their level. To request a placement test, you need to apply for it online through this link. The test costs QAR 50.
You will be switched to the appropriate language level class.
We have three sessions per academic year. Our fall courses start in September and our spring courses start in January. The summer session starts in May.
We offer a variety of course formats to suit different learning needs and schedules.
For Adults:
- Regular Courses (Fall & Spring): Classes meet twice a week, either Sundays and Tuesdays or Mondays and Wednesdays. Each session is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Intensive Courses: Classes meet three times a week on weekdays, with each session lasting 2.5 to 3 hours. Saturday intensive sessions are 3 to 4 hours.
- Summer Courses: We offer courses on special topics, with classes meeting two or three times a week. Each session is approximately 2.5 hours.
For Youth:
Regular Courses (Fall & Spring): Classes meet once a week on Saturdays; Each session is approximately 2 hours.
Yes, we offer morning and evening classes.
Yes, we offer both online and face-to-face classes.
We use WebEx, the HBKU official platform.
We do English-target language instruction.
Yes, we offer intensive courses and courses on special topics on Saturday in several language programs.
You will be able to switch to another class if there are still seats in that class.
No, the books are paid for separately.

No, only full-time college students are eligible for a student discount for courses longer than 30 hours.
They are required to be physically present in the country as per the entry/residence laws of the State of Qatar. Language Center does not provide support in Visa requests and/or applications for individual students.
We are located in Education City, Qatar Foundation.
- Certificate of Completion: Issued to students who successfully meet the course requirements, which may include attendance, homework, examinations, projects, and other course requirements, as applicable.
- Certificate of Attendance: Issued to students who do not meet the requirements for a Certificate of Completion. The Certificate of Attendance will indicate the total number of hours attended.
