Quantum Sensing for Contactless Health Monitoring

This project explores the use of quantum-enhanced sensing technologies for non-contact health monitoring, focusing on detecting vital signs such as heart rate and respiration without requiring sensors to be attached directly to the body. Such capabilities could support future applications in remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, clinical screening, and care settings where conventional contact-based sensors may be impractical or undesirable. The project will investigate whether quantum optical techniques can improve the sensitivity of contactless measurements by detecting extremely small physical signals associated with cardiovascular and respiratory activity. A laboratory prototype will be developed and evaluated under controlled conditions to demonstrate improved measurement performance compared with conventional sensing approaches.
