Through this webinar series for Early Career Researchers (ECR), QBRI will feature inspiring talks from pioneers about their personal journey in a scientific career, with the aim of sparking conversation among young minds to actively pursue personal and professional development.

Following the success of the first webinar session last month on how to build a scientific career plan, the second session will be as follows:

Webinar 2: Writing a successful grant for biomedical scientists: the NIH format

This webinar will discuss the basic elements of writing a grant proposal based on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) format. The presentation will also include guidelines and tips on what reviewers look for in a proposal and how to succeed in achieving a favorable review.

Speaker: 

Dr. Nasser H. Zawia

Biography:

Nasser H. Zawia is the former Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Rhode Island and inaugural director of the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (INP), playing a founding role in the formation of the George and Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience. His research focuses on the environmental risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and discovering new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. Zawia is a leader in the epigenetics of AD and his work has been featured by national and international media such ABC News, CBS, and CNN. His research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Environmental Protection Agency.
