Single Molecule Imaging of Membrane Signaling in Living Cells

26Jan2022

This seminar will highlight the molecular mechanisms underlying membrane receptor activation and signaling modulation in the broad context of cancer metastasis and viral infection.

Single-molecule approaches capture transient intermediates and heterogeneous behavior at the molecular level and in real time. These methods have uncovered how molecular systems effect function in living cells.

Over the last few years,  a hybrid supported lipid bilayer (live-cell platform to reconstitute receptor signaling at the cell membrane interface) has been developed. This allows manipulating and imaging receptor signaling with high spatial-temporal resolution.
