Biography

Yahya Zakaria has been a Research Associate at the Qatar Environment & Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) since October 2015. Prior to joining QEERI, Yahya worked as an engineer/project manager for projects related to laboratory and nanotechnology instrumentation. Since joining QEERI, Yahya has been working on establishing X-ray and Surface Science laboratories. Yahya manages the Surface Science Lab which includes state-of-the-art research capabilities (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy, and Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy/Auger Electron Spectroscopy). His research activities are focused on materials’ synthesis and characterization related to energy conversion. Currently, he is working on oxides and their various applications, particularly in Photovoltaics and Energy Storage.
