Dr. Juan Lopez-Garcia is the Principal Investigator and Research Program Director for the Energy Conversion program at the Energy Center at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) where he shapes the research strategy and leads a team of scientists and engineers, as well as the Institute’s research and development activities in the field of Energy Conversion, with special emphasis on solar energy conversion. He received his MSc in Science (physics) from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain), and his PhD in Applied Physics from the same university and the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT), Spain. He worked as postdoc at the Research Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT) and as a Research Scientist at the Catalan Institute of Energy Research (IREC), Spain. He was also the Scientific Project Officer of the European Commission in the Joint Research Centre (JRC) at Ispra (Italy) working on the European Solar Test Installation (ESTI). Dr. Lopez-Garcia is author and co-author of more than 96 scientific contributions including peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, technical reports and book chapters. He has been awarded with several 'best contribution' awards in renowned conferences and he is also a member of many international scientific committees.

Research Interests

My research interest includes thin films, semiconductor materials, photovoltaic (PV) devices and solar cells, nanostructured PV materials, PV module testing and calibration, reliability, soiling, standardization, and assessment of future energy technologies.
