The Office of the Vice President for Research at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) announced that Dr. Chefi Triki, (Lead Principal investigator), Dr. Adel Elomri (Principal Investigator) - from the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) - and Dr. Annamaria Mazzoni (Principal Investigator) from the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), have been awarded a research grant from the Belmont Forum for their proposal titled "Integrated Assessment of Climate Impacts on Ecosystem Functions and Productivity of Critical-Zone Eco-Hydrology (INTERACTION).”

The Belmont Forum is a partnership of funding organizations, international science councils, and regional consortia committed to the advancement of transdisciplinary science. This specific call, “Towards Sustainability of Soils and Groundwater for Society” is co-funded by 10 international funding agencies including the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).

With HBKU being the only entity in Qatar to receive this award, the project - supported by QNRF - includes members from Kahramaa and the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar and marks a major international collaboration between the Consortium Lead Purdue University, HBKU, and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). Members of the awarded team include:
