Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is seeking applications for the position of Facilities & Support Services Manager. The applicant will be responsible for managing facility infrastructures and ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective deployment of personnel and other resources within a pre-determined group of area-based buildings.

Job Role Description

  • Manage and plan the HBKU facilities and support services in ensuring efficient, effective maintenance and facilities services within a delegated site or group of buildings.
  • Plan the delivery of a safe, efficient, and effective manner, as well as the resolution of routine problems; services may include maintenance, security, cleaning, waste management, porters, mail, grounds maintenance, parking, and catering.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships and partnerships with representatives of Qatar Foundation divisions, including but not limited to Facilities Management, HSSE, and other HBKU Collages’ Facilities teams to provide the required support.
  • Monitor the quality of facility services provided by QF contracted personnel. Ensure that work is implemented and executed as per generally applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, including those of the State of Qatar.
  • Assist end-users with operational tasks relating to maintenance and facilities services such as operation and maintenance, space planning and furniture supply, office support, janitorial services, transportation, and landscaping.
  • Establish massive, cross-functional teams that are efficient and cohesive by delegating overall goals.
  • Review and update the HBKU/FM Policy and Procedure documentation annually and report to the Facilities and Support Services Director with regular FM Service reports highlighting areas for improvement.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all matters pertaining to HBKU's new projects with QF Capital Project.
  • Facilitate the coordination of all HBKU transportation, custodial, and support service requirements.
  • Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field alongside 8 – 10 years of relevant full-time work experience, 3 of which at a supervisory level.
  • A relevant professional qualification (such as building/maintenance or facilities management), project management experience, and practical managerial and leadership skills are required.
  • Outstanding understanding of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and related tools.
  • Outstanding supplier and contract management and governance knowledge.
  • Understanding occupational hazards, safety procedures, and emergency procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of Hard FM Services, practical experience in supervising and monitoring building services/operations using contractors and directly employed personnel.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
