Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. HBKU is a homegrown research and graduate studies University that acts as a catalyst for positive transformation in Qatar and the region while having a global impact.

Founded in 2015, the College of Law at HBKU is a graduate-level law school located in Qatar Foundation’s Education City. The College of Law offers four degrees: Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Economic and Business Law, Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Foreign Affairs, and Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.), which meet educational needs in the legal field for Qatar, the region, and beyond.

Position

The College of Law invites applications for the full-time position of Lecturer. Candidates should have an outstanding academic record in law and have demonstrated a strong interest in legal research, writing, and teaching as evidenced by co-curricular activities while in law school, engagement in the community, and, ideally, publications.

The university and the college offer unprecedented opportunities for professional teaching research enrichment and personal fulfillment. The College of Law at HBKU works within a collaborative environment with partner universities within Qatar Foundation (e.g., Georgetown University in Qatar and Weill-Cornell Medicine in Qatar) and other institutions, such as the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • JD, LL.M or S.J.D degree & 4 years of relevant full-time work experience. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Show promise of potential excellence in teaching, curriculum development, pedagogy development, and scholarly achievements.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, cultures, and communities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.
  • Maintain own continuing professional development.
  • Potential to develop national and regional networks and collaboration in teaching and research.
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
