About the Provost

Dr. Benedik brings a wealth of over 30 years’ academic leadership experience to HBKU. Most recently, he has held the roles of Vice Provost and Chief International Officer for Texas A&M University, where he served as an advisor to the Provost and President, providing guidance for campus-wide initiatives in concert with university and college leadership. He was also at the forefront of multi-college interdisciplinary curricular programs, academic strategic planning, and cross-campus initiatives.

During his time at Texas A&M, Dr. Benedik served on the Faculty Senate and was elected Speaker of the Senate in 2011. He was selected as the Dean of Faculties and Associate Provost in 2012. In 2015, he was promoted to Vice Provost for Texas A&M University, and Chief International Officer in 2018. Dr. Benedik completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago and obtained his PhD in Molecular Genetics from Stanford University in 1982.

Dr. Benedik possesses the dynamic leadership skills, experience, and vision to work collaboratively with all of you to continue HBKU’s academic journey and reach new pinnacles of success.
