Saffiyah joined QBRI from Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press where she worked from 2011 as a Journal Publisher of scholarly peer reviewed open access journals. Her responsibilities focused on managing Qatar Medical Journal, Journal of Emergency Medicine, Trauma & Acute Care and Avicenna. Saffiyah acquired extensive experience in facilitating the publication of high quality research which entailed managing the peer review process and online website and submission system, reviewing and editing articles and working closely with authors, reviewers and editorial boards.

Saffiyah also worked to develop new partnerships with local and global research institutions with the aim of furthering academic research dissemination and was instrumental in securing a number of publishing agreements with journal sponsors and conference organizers.

She started her career in the clinical research industry working for various leading pharmaceutical companies in London, UK after obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Leeds in 2006.

Saffiyah more recently received her Master’s degree from HEC-Paris in Qatar in Strategic Business Unit Management in 2021.

She is excited to be part of such a dynamic and diverse team at QBRI and looks forward to contributing her knowledge and experience of science and business to her current role as Business Development Manager.
