ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Summer Research Program (SRP) at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) will mark its 6th edition this year. SRP  will once again offer intensive training opportunities in specific fields of biomedical research to exceptional undergraduate students over the summer. 

The program provides participants with unique opportunities for hands-on laboratory research experience under the supervision of distinguished QBRI researchers in a supportive, challenging and knowledge conducive environment. In addition, the program seeks to enrich participants’ experience outside the laboratory through a series of seminars, workshops and informal interactions with members of the scientific community at QBRI and in other biomedical research institutions in Qatar.

PROGRAM DURATION

This program will run for eight weeks. 
Training dates to be confirmed, subject to the COVID-19 developments in the coming weeks.

Application submission deadline:
Sunday, March 29, 2020

Exceptions can be made if required.

The intensive nature of the program requires full-time participant commitment.
 

ELIGIBILITY

To be considered for the program, the applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate program in biological/medical related science 
  • Have a minimum graduate point average (GPA) of 3.0

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must fill the online form and submit the following documents:

  • Updated resume. 
  • Official copy of university academic transcript.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty/instructors, familiar with the student, in a position to assess the student’s capabilities and potential for a career in science.

SELECTION CRITERIA & EVALUATION PROCESS

Applications will be evaluated by QBRI’s selection committee based on specific criteria including:

  • The student’s academic record and performance.
  • Letters of recommendation.

The top candidates will be interviewed in person or via Skype by members of the selection committee prior to making final admission decisions.
