Emad El-Din ShahinINTERIM PROVOST, HBKU

We believe that the building blocks of any future are the values which carry us forward: Mutual Trust, Transparency, Communication, Fairness, and so much more. Such an approach breathes purpose into our everyday work and our ambitions.

Provost Message

HBKU has come a long way for such a young institution, and it continues to develop into an incredible university. Our role here is to empower our people in order to perpetuate this positive momentum. After all, the very foundation of the university is built upon by the faculty member who is driven to impart his or her knowledge to future generations; the student who is inspired to apply his or her education outside the classroom; the researcher who is focused on building his or her path towards a Great Solution; and the unique ways in which all community members fulfil their roles and more to safeguard this journey.

We believe that the building blocks of any future are the values which carry us forward: Mutual Trust, Transparency, Communication, Fairness, and so much more. Such an approach breathes purpose into our everyday work and our ambitions. Our aim above all else is to continue questioning ourselves: How can we better?

  • How can we better offer our students the best learning and living experiences along their HBKU journey?
  • How can we better develop our teaching and learning frameworks to continuously adapt to our complex environment?
  • How can we better ensure that our research, dedicated to exploring the known questions of today, can also respond to the unknown questions of tomorrow?
  • How can we better nurture an ingrained sense of service to our local community and beyond?

As a university placed within a dynamic ecosystem of Qatar Foundation, we have a great story to tell and a greater role to play. We firmly believe in our core role to develop the most niche programs to respond to our ever-changing and complex world. We desire for our graduates to confidently create positive impact in areas that inspire them. We strive to strategically direct our research into areas that are either undiscovered or require better understanding. Ultimately, we aim to foster a sense of community of inspirers, change agents, and positive global actors through the power of education.

I look forward to continuing along this path with all our community members towards a more positive future.

Kind regards,

Emad El-Din Shahin
