The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has entered into partnership with Microsoft to facilitate joint research projects and the optimization of the college’s educational experience.

The partnership was announced at QITCOM 2019, Qatar’s premier technology trade show. In addition to research and development (R&D) opportunities, CSE will gain access to transformation tools that Microsoft is using to upskill college employees in advanced technologies. 
“Qatar National Vision 2030 puts the education of our next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs at the heart of our activities,” said Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. “We are delighted to announce the establishment of our partnership with Microsoft, a company that shares our passion for education and research, and is one of the best forward-looking IT companies in the world. This collaboration will enable us to leverage technology and execute R&D projects to reshape the future of education. There will also be numerous opportunities to expose our workforce to the very latest IT technology, and to thrive in the information-driven Fourth Industrial Revolution.” 

Microsoft and HBKU also plan to train select employees and certify them through Microsoft courses. HBKU already runs on the Microsoft Azure Cloud and Office 365, and has an Open edX account with Microsoft courses, as well as being a participant in the Microsoft Imagine Academy. Qatar Foundation also hosts HBKU’s entire IT infrastructure in the intelligent cloud.
