Sustainable energy supplies a major talking point at next year’s global forum

HBKU Supports Call for Submissions for 12th International Exergy, Energy and Environment Symposium (IEEES-12)

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is encouraging its rapidly-expanding network of stakeholders to propose submissions for the 12th International Exergy, Energy and Environment Symposium (IEEES-12). Organized by a global network of universities, the symposium brings together academics, scientists, and others working on sustainable energy systems.

In keeping with previous events, the scope of IEEES-12 is undoubtedly broad and ambitious. Participants will consider developments in renewable energy technologies, smart energy systems, hydrogen and fuel technologies, and more. IEEES-12 will pay particular attention to green transportation and sustainable mobility and discuss updates in the areas of desalination technologies and green vehicles.

IEEES-12 also coincides with the United Nations’ World Water Day. A special session will be held on the importance of this key resource as well as desalination technologies and challenges associated with implementation. Internationally-recognized experts in the field of sustainability will present several thematic workshops and presentations.

Dr. Mounir Hamdi, dean of CSE, said: “The College of Science and Engineering’s Sustainable Development division aims to provide well-balanced training in the developmental needs, economic growth, and environmental protection of the nation. The symposium highlights its core mandate of driving, proposing, and encouraging research that ties into global concerns while searching for highly relevant solutions.”

Dr. Yusuf Bicer, chair of IEEES-12, said: “IEEES-12 will undoubtedly become a major global forum for discussions on sustainable energy and interrelated issues. We’re also cognizant that our network of academics and experts have a vested interest in all of the topics to be discussed at IEEES-12. That’s why we’re encouraging them to submit abstracts and short papers ahead of next year’s initiative.”

IEEES-12 welcomes submissions on the following themes: Bio-Waste Utilization; Cogeneration and Micro-generation; Combustion, Pyrolysis, and Gasification Technologies; Desalination Technologies; Electro-Chemical Devices (fuel cells, capacitors, batteries, etc.); Energetic System Optimization; Energy Systems and Applications; Environmental Engineering Technologies; Environmental Impact Assessment; Exergy Analysis and Modeling; Fossil Fuels; Green Buildings; Green Energy Technologies; Green Transportation Vehicles; Heat and Mass Transfer; Hydrogen Production and Utilization Technologies; Life Cycle Assessment; New Materials for Energy Applications; Nuclear Energy; Refrigeration and Heat Pump Systems; Renewable Energy Systems; Smart Grids; Sustainable Communities; Sustainable Development; Sustainable Mobility; Synthetic Fuels; Thermal Systems and Applications; Thermodynamic Optimization.

Abstract submissions are open until Friday, November 15. Accepted abstracts will be announced by Sunday, December 1, 2019. For more information and submitting your abstract, please visit hbku.edu.qa/ieees12
