Dubbing for Arab Screens Workshop

21 - 24Apr2019

Ever wondered how non-Arabic movies and shows are dubbed to be aired on screens?

This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the translation and adaptation of dialogue in preparation for non lip-synced dubbing or voice-over. The medium of instruction is a hybrid of both Arabic and English and, although, the emphasis is on Arabic, students will also work on activities dubbing into English.

Various techniques and constraints of transadapting audio-visual texts for revoicing will guide participants to gradually learn how to manage such texts and produce adequate and acceptable scripts.

Participants will work with a range of different media products including: documentaries, interviews, and cartoons.

The workshop will be delivered by Dr. Rashid Yahiaoui, Assistant Professor of the MA in Audiovisual Translation program at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
