1st Flow Cytometry Symposium

On May 7th 2017, a flow cytometry symposium entitled “Flow Cytometry: A powerful Tool in Clinical & Translational Research” took place at the HBKU Research Complex in QF Education City. The meeting was organized and hosted by Dr. Eyad Elkord (HBKU/QBRI Cancer Research Center) and Dr. Gerald Pfister (HBKU/QBRI Flow Cytometry Core) and kindly supported by Sedeer Medical Services LLC

More than 65 participants attended talks on flow cytometry and related applications given by Dr. Gerald Pfister (HBKU/QBRI), Dr. Jean-Charles Grivel (Sidra Medical Research Centre), Ms. Aleksandra Liberska (Weill Cornell Medical College) and Dr. Eyad Elkord (HBKU/QBRI). The symposium attracted participants from many well-reputed scientific institutions in Qatar, such as Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Sidra Medical Research Centre, Hamad Medical Corporation, Weill Cornell Medical College and the Anti Doping Lab Qatar.

Participants enjoyed a fruitful intellectual exchange during seminars and discussions and were given the opportunity of an exclusive tour through the new QBRI Flow Cytometry Core Facility and some of the research labs at the end of this successful event.
