The mission of the College of Science and Engineering’s Division of Sustainable Development is to provide students with a comprehensive training to lead society, industry and business sectors, and policymaking processes.
Additionally, it fosters the search for the right balance between development needs, economic growth, environmental protection, human and social progress and preservation. The division offers multidisciplinary programs at both the MS and PhD levels, focusing on energy and environmental issues. The key goal of the Division of Sustainable Development is to enhance student understanding as well as analytical and decision-making skills. These are related to sustainability issues through multi-faceted research on pioneering energy and environment-related science and technology, as well as policy, social and human capital topics that benefit Qatar and the greater Middle East region.
Our faculty members are involved in a wide variety of theoretical and experimental research related to sustainable development. The division has access to cutting-edge technology and equipment within the College of Science and Engineering, and also through collaboration with HBKU’s research institutes, such as the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI).
