SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM 2021

About the Program 

The Summer Research Program (SRP) at Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI) offers intensive training opportunities in specific fields of biomedical research to exceptional undergraduate students over the summer. 

The program provides participants with unique opportunities for hands-on laboratory research experience under the supervision of distinguished QBRI researchers in a supportive, challenging, and knowledge conducive environment. In addition, the program seeks to enrich participants’ experience outside the laboratory through a series of seminars, workshops, and informal interactions with members of the scientific community at QBRI and in other biomedical research institutions in Qatar.

Program Duration 

This program will run for eight weeks. 
The intensive nature of the program requires participants to commit full-time. 
 

Eligibility 

To be considered for the program, the applicant must:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate program in biological/medical related science 
  • Have a minimum graduate point average (GPA) of 3.0

Application Process 

Applicants must fill in the online form and submit the following documents:

  • An updated resume 
  • Official copy of university academic transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty/instructors, familiar with the student, in a position to assess the student’s capabilities and potential for a career in science
  • Selection of two projects (Projects to be announced with each program cycle.)

Selection Criteria and Evaluation Process 

Applications are evaluated by QBRI’s selection committee based on a specific criteria including:

  • The student’s academic record and performance.
  • Letters of recommendation.

The top candidates are interviewed in person or via Skype by members of the selection committee prior to making final admission decisions.
